Location and Area
Al Makhrour Valley is located to the west of the city of Beit Jala, stretching toward the village of Battir and the outskirts of Jerusalem. It serves as a natural link between the Bethlehem countryside and the Jerusalem Hills. The valley spans approximately 700 dunums, with elevations ranging between 500 and 900 meters above sea level. This gives the valley its unique microclimate and rich biodiversity throughout the year.
As part of the natural topography of the Jerusalem-Bethlehem hill range, the valley features a deep ravine flanked by rocky hills and ancient agricultural terraces that date back to the Canaanite and Roman eras. These geological formations contribute to replenishing underground water reserves and serve as vital corridors for local wildlife.
Strategically located near major urban centers such as Bethlehem and Jerusalem, the valley is easily accessible while maintaining a serene and preserved natural environment.
